SNEHAPANAM
Snehapanam, an Ayurvedic therapeutic approach, involves the oral consumption of medicated ghee infused with beneficial herbs. The term “Snehapanam” originates from the Sanskrit words “Sneha,” meaning oil, and “Panam,” meaning drink. This method, also known as internal oleation, serves as a preliminary step for Panchakarma therapies, which are designed to rectify imbalances within the three doshas.
The administration of Snehapanam Ayurveda treatment typically takes place in the morning, following the natural calls of the body and on an empty stomach. The prescribed dosage is carefully determined based on factors such as the individual’s health, age, diagnosed ailment, and digestive capacity. The duration of the Snepanam in Ayurveda spans from eight to twelve days, contingent upon the patient’s condition and the specific illness being addressed. This regimen proves beneficial for cleansing the intestines, eliminating accumulated toxins (amas), and facilitating the expulsion of these toxic materials from the patient’s body through urine and stool.
